We headed to High Lonesome for the annual Lowery family hunt. The weather cooperated all but one day, but we still had a blast.
First kill was Caroline's hog.
Up next, Uncle Byron's doe. This was Luke's first encounter with a deer upclose. He did not seem to mind, and was rather curious. He walked up to the deer and said, "Deer night night."
Luke's favorite way to pass the time, chumming corn with cousin Cici. Luke really cannot say Caroline or Claire so we came up with Cici. The girls were so great with him during our visit.
Just a little bit excited.
Color time with Claire.
Luke's other favorite thing to do, hang in the jeep. We went for a ride and once he had a taste of Willy, all he wanted to do was go for a ride.
Hanging at camp.
I could not resist these red cordouroy overalls. Too cute and perfect for the chilly weather.
Mommy got a buck. Papa was sweet to watch Luke while Drew and I shared the last hunt. Small management deer came out and pow, buck on the ground.
View from Out of Sight. Deer stand where Mommy shot her buck.
Good job team!
Back in the saddle again.
Something unusual, we caught a raccoon. This photo was taken from a game camera setup to catch the little guy in action. Two nights of this sucker stealing the bait, and vahla, raccoon trapped on night three. No worries, we let him go with no injuries.
We had such a great time hanging at camp. We cannot wait for next year as we are hoping Luke will have enough patience to come on a hunt. So fun seeing all the Lowery's.
